Boca Ballet Theatre Announces Its Nutcracker Guest Artists

 

No holiday season is complete without a performance of “The Nutcracker.” There is a certain magic in this ballet that keeps audiences returning year after year, securing its place as one of the most popular and widely-performed ballets in North America. Boca Ballet Theatre’s staging of “The Nutcracker,” presented by Marleen Forkas, is guaranteed to delight audiences, ringing in the holiday season in a celebration of music and dance. Between Tchaikovsky’s iconic score, world-renowned guest artists, magical sets, and breathtaking costumes, there is something for everyone to enjoy at “The Nutcracker.”

Remy Young of American Ballet Theatre

The guest artists for this year’s performance include Remy Young, who will dance as the Sugar Plum Fairy, and Sung Woo Han, who will dance as her Cavalier. Both are appearing courtesy of American Ballet Theatre. Their performance has been graciously underwritten by Edith and Martin* Stein.

Remy Young began her classical training at the age of three at the Charlotte School of Ballet. Over the years, she has received awards from the Youth America Grand Prix and the American Ballet Competition. She was accepted into the ABT Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School, where she trained until joining ABT Studio Company. Remy joined the American Ballet Theatre’s main Company in 2016.

Sung Woo Han of American Ballet Theatre

Sung Woo Han was born in Seoul, Korea, where he began his ballet training and entered the Korea National University of Arts at the age of 17. Han has won numerous awards including the Beijing International Ballet Invitational Competition, where he won the Grand First Prize, the International Ballet Competitio-Varna, and the Youth America Grand Prix. He received the second place prize at the Prix de Lausanne and received a full scholarship at the Royal Ballet Company. Han joined American Ballet Theatre in 2013.

Other guest artists for this year’s Nutcracker performance include Toby Lewellen from Ballet Arkansas; Sam Huberty from Bray Ballet; and freelance artists Lucas Segovia, Mauricio Vera, and Rome Saladino.
