An invaluable experience for aspiring professionals
BBT’s Summer Performance Workshop has earned a reputation for being the most thorough and rewarding dance experience a student can have during the summer, and many it as a launching pad for a professional career in dance. Under the supervision of BBT’s Co-Artistic Directors Dan Guin and Jane Tyree, the program offers top quality teachers and master guest Artistic Directors from top conservatories and companies around the country. This year’s guest artistic directors Michael Pink of Milwaukee Ballet, Peter Boal of Pacific Northwest Ballet, Melissa Barak of L.A. Ballet, and Adam Sklute of Ballet West.
Workshop at a glance
Date: June 26th–July 30th, 2023 (5 weeks)
Time: Monday–Saturday from 10 AM–6 PM
Tuition: $2495. Note: to secure your spot in the program, you must pay a non-refundable deposit of $595.

Take classes in ballet technique, pointe technique, variations, jazz, and modern. Additional classes in Pilates and hip-hop will also be included.
Use classes to audition for visiting Artistic Directors.
Meet and ask questions of the visiting Artistic Directors during the “Meet the Director” lecture series.
Learn what it is to be a member of a corps de ballet, dancing with some of the finest professional dancers in the world.
Dance enrichment sessions will include: question and answer sessions with professional dancers, technical theatre production, video critique of historic ballet performances, plus discussions on resume, make-up and audition skills.
The workshop will culminate on July 29th and 30th, 2023, with a full-length performance of Summer Dreams, a mixed repertory concert featuring a blend of classical and contemporary works. Students perform together with guest artists from renowned companies like American Ballet Theatre and New York City Ballet.

Video audition
Dancers must submit the Online Audition Application ($20 fee) and send video, headshot, and at least one letter of recommendation to summer@bocaballet.org.
The video should be no longer than three (3) minutes and include the following:
Full-face video introduction, including your name and age.
You should be the only one appearing on the video.
Any classical variation best suited for the dancer OR a series of classroom exercises including adagio, petite allegro, and grande allegro.
