BBT Caps Off Amazing Performance Workshop

Though this year has brought its share of strangeness and uncertainty, Boca Ballet Theatre was thrilled to safely host its Summer Intensive Performance Workshop! Over the course of the month-long program, BBT welcomed artistic directors both in-studio and, for the first time, online! Julie Kent, Artistic Director of The Washington Ballet, and James Sofranko, Artistic Director of Grand Rapids Ballet, joined us from across the country via the magic of technology, contributing their expertise alongside Artistic Directors Hope Muir of Charlotte Ballet, Adam Sklute of Ballet West, and Kevin Irving of Oregon Ballet, who taught in the BBT studios! The insights they provided in special “Director’s Lunch” sessions about pursuing a career in professional dance were invaluable to all workshop attendees!

The summer was capped off by BBT’s first ever live virtual performance, which featured excerpts from La Bayadère!

We would like to thank our very special underwriters for this summer performance: Elizabeth H. Dudley, and Blake and Seton Smith.

Thanks also to the generous donations of everyone who tuned in! We raised over $18,500! A big thank you to Andrea Virgin, Holli Rockwell Trubinsky and an anonymous donor who led the charge on our text to give campaign.

Though this performance was not exactly what we imagined months ago, we hope that you enjoyed the product of our dancers’ hard work and all those who ensured that BBT’s first virtual production was a beautiful success!
