BBT to Honor Steven Caras with Lifetime Achievement in the Arts Award
On January 15, 2023, Boca Ballet Theatre will honor former New York City Ballet dancer and advocate for the arts Steven Caras with our inaugural Lifetime Achievement in the Arts Award! This award celebrates his exceptional service in promoting, preserving, and perpetuating the art of dance in the 21st century. Learn more about Mr. Caras’ impressive accomplishments and reserve your tickets to Baptist Health presents BBT’s “Stars of Dance Gala” Performance and Dinner below!
Mr. Caras began studying ballet in New Jersey at the age of fifteen. At eighteen years old, he was invited by George Balanchine to join New York City Ballet. For over a decade, Caras danced around the globe in numerous masterworks choreographed by Balanchine and Jerome Robbins.
After noticing Mr. Caras’ reverence for his fellow dancers and his bond with his used Olympus camera, Balanchine granted Mr. Caras full access to document all aspects of company activity. Balanchine’s encouragement led to a luminous second career for Mr. Caras as one of the most respected image makers of dance. His work has appeared internationally in prominent publications, films and documentaries, exhibitions, and private collections. Today, Mr. Caras is a celebrated keynote speaker, guest teacher, and advocate for the arts and education.
We hope you’ll join us at the “Stars of Dance Gala” Performance and Dinner to celebrate Steven Caras as the inaugural recipient of BBT’s Lifetime Achievement in the Arts Award! Learn more and buy your tickets to this special event in the link below.
