Graduation Ball
Spring Menagerie will feature Graduation Ball, a one-act theatrical ballet filled with young love, mischief, and comedy. The ballet is set in a fashionable Viennese finishing school for girls. The school’s headmistress invites the cadets of the city's military academy to attend a ball celebrating the graduation of the senior class. During the evening’s celebrations, the senior and junior girls perform divertissements as entertainment. Flirtations, exuberant dances, and a secret romance ensue in this delightful ballet set to the music of Johann Strauss II!
Bournonville Suite
Also featured in this spring’s performance is exuberant crowd-favorite Bournonville Suite. This ballet’s tarantella—a dance that served as the supposed cure for victims of venomous spider bites—is sure to set the heart racing! Our principal guest artists will also showcase their light footwork in Bournonville’s Flower Festival in Genzano, a playful pas de deux that charms and dazzles!
In Deep
Set to the music of Deep Forest, a Grammy Award-winning duo inspired by sounds of the natural world, In Deep captures the essence of the ocean as dancers imitate the creatures that reside on the ocean floor, bringing them to life with fluid movement.
