Dance for PD® Workshop a success!
Boca Ballet Theatre was honored to host Dance for PD founding teacher David Leventhal of the Mark Morris Dance Group for a training workshop in March! Dance for PD® is an internationally-acclaimed program that offers research-backed dance classes for people living with Parkinson’s disease. This impactful program has a network of partners and associates in more than 300 other communities in 28 countries, including right here in Boca Raton through our BBT4PD program!
March’s Dance for PD workshop attracted trainees from Arkansas, New York, Illinois, and Ohio—plus Naples and Boca Raton, Florida! Participants raved about this fantastic and valuable workshop, which focused on the innovative and globally-acclaimed Dance for PD® approach. This innovative program emphasizes dance instruction that’s driven by accessibility, inclusion, compassion, and artistic quality.
David also led a free community movement class for people living with Parkinson’s as well as their families, friends, and care partners. Thirty-eight participants attended this class, which explored movement and music in ways that were enjoyable, stimulating, and creative. The class incorporated elements of modern dance, ballet, creative movement, jazz, and social dancing—all in a non-pressured, social environment with music that energized, enriched, and empowered!
We wish to thank Mark Morris Dance Group and the Dance for PD® program for the opportunity to host this wonderful workshop, which benefited trainees and dance class participants alike! We are proud to be part of the Dance for PD® mission through our BBT4PD program, now celebrating its 10th season of movement-based classes.
