Faculty Spotlight: Who is Andréa Gregori?
In this month’s faculty spotlight, we highlight one of Boca Ballet Theatre’s exceptional instructors: Andréa Gregori! We are lucky to have Andréa in our studios, where she shares her passion and extensive teaching experience with our students. But who is Ms. Gregori, and how did she connect with BBT?
Born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Andréa graduated from the Maria Olenewa State School and Rio Dance Center. In 1980, she joined the trainee program at the Joffrey Ballet, where she worked with prestigious teachers like Eliana Karen, Tatiana Leskova, Eugenia Feodorova, Ramona de Sáa, Meredith Baylis, Hector Zaraspe, and David Howard. Transitioning to teaching, she gained extensive training in the Vaganova System and later became certified in Cuban (Escuela Nacional de Ballet de Cuba) and English (Royal Academy of Dance) methodologies. She is also an ABT® Certified Teacher in the ABT® National Training Curriculum, Primary through Level 7 & Partnering.
In 2015, Andréa and her family moved from Massachusetts, where she taught at the Boston Ballet School for eight years, to Florida to teach at Miami City Ballet. However, she began looking for schools closer to her home in Delray and eventually discovered Boca Ballet Theatre. In addition to being impressed with the facility and the quality of BBT’s performances, Andréa discovered that her friend and fellow Brazilian Daniela Nascimento was a faculty member at BBT!
“My favorite part of teaching,” Andréa says, “is seeing the students’ happy faces when they overcome a challenge and watching their eyes light up when they wear their first pointe shoes and tutus, not to mention the tiaras! I appreciate the school's commitment to delivering excellent training, developing high-level dancers, and producing professional performance.”
It is an honor to have such a skilled instructor at Boca Ballet Theatre! We hope you’ll say hello to Andréa next time you’re in the studio!
