July Dance Classes and Intensive Workshop at BBT

July Dance Classes

July dance classes available at Boca Ballet Theatre

Boca Ballet Theatre is excited to be offering in-studio dance classes in July! However, in order to follow CDC social distancing guidelines, class sizes will be limited. To secure your “spot at the barre,” class package registration and tuition payment will be required. Each class package has its days and times listed below. You must register for the entire package of your level (in other words, classes can not be chosen “a la carte”). You are only allowed to attend the class for which you have registered.

Please select the package of your current BBT level by calling 561-995-0709 or emailing Nicole Winter at nwinter@bocaballet.org. Registration will be offered on a first come-first served basis!

Boca Ballet Theatre has put in place the following preventative measures for your health and safety to prevent the spread of COVID-19:

  • Parents will drop students off at the front door.

  • Students entering the studio must wear a face-mask when in hallway or in common areas.

  • Students are encouraged but not required to wear a face-mask in class when feasible.

  • It is recommended that students arrive dressed and ready for class before entering the studio.

  • All are required to sanitize their hands entering and leaving the building.

  • Sanitizing stations will be setup throughout the building.

  • Sanitary wipes and hand sanitizer will be located in all studios.

  • The ballet barres will be disinfected before and after each class. The hall carpets, benches, and studio floors will be disinfected daily.

  • Social distancing will be required throughout the building. Each barre has tape marks separating students by 6ft.

  • Please bring your own water bottle, the water fountain will not be available.

  • If students need to use the restroom, they will be released one at a time to use the lobby restroom.

  • Students must maintain social distancing while exiting the classroom and the building.

  • Students must be picked up immediately after class. No students are allowed to remain in the building once class has finished.

  • No one with a fever or any cold or flu symptoms will be allowed.  Student’s temperature will be taken upon entering the studio.

  • People who have traveled out of state, or been in contact with someone with COVID-19 MUST follow the State of Florida and CDC Guidelines.

For those not comfortable attending classes in person, virtual Zoom classes will be available (see further information below).

Youth Summer Workshop C 2.jpg

BBT’s Summer Intensive Workshop

Boca Ballet Theatre is planning to hold our Summer Intensive Workshop from June 29th, 2020 – August 2nd, and we are thrilled to be hosting guest Artistic Directors Adam Sklute (Ballet West), Hope Muir (Charlotte Ballet), Kevin Irving (Oregon Ballet Theatre), and Julie Kent (The Washington Ballet)!

Boca Ballet Theatre will not be offering housing in our traditional method.  However, we have several affordable housing options detailed below.

Included in the workshop are classes in ballet technique, pointe technique, variations, jazz, modern, pilates, hip-hop, dance enrichment sessions, and a “Meet the Director” lecture series where you can ask questions about auditioning for and what to expect working for professional companies.

Unfortunately, due to local theater closures and concerns of social distancing, the performance of the full-length version of La Bayadère cannot be presented. However, we will be looking for safer performance venues and opportunities featuring excerpts from La Bayadère and other works.

STUDENT HOUSING

Due to the unpredictable nature of COVID-19, Boca Ballet Theatre cannot accept responsibility for the housing of students.  Student housing must be arranged directly with the lodging establishment by the student/parent.  If you would like to share a room and split the expense with another dancer, Boca Ballet Theatre can help facilitate communications between students but we are not responsible for selecting roommates if you choose to have one.

WORKSHOP SAFETY PROCEDURES & PROTOCOL

Please understand that the decision to move forward with in-person camp will ultimately be determined closer to June 29th, 2020, following all CDC guidelines for maximum safety of students, teachers, and administrators. We are planning for the best, but preparing for everything in order to keep our students and staff healthy and safe.

In compliance with CDC recommendations, we will be implementing the following safety procedures:

  • Employees and parents entering the studio must wear a face mask when feasible.

  • Daily cleaning, disinfecting, and ventilation of all facilities and transport vehicles.

  • Encourage social distancing through increased spacing, small groups, and limited mixing between groups by staggering schedules, drop offs, and pick up times.

  • Adjusted activities and procedures to limit the sharing of items such as supplies and equipment.

  • Mandatory training for all employees on health and safety protocols.

  • Everyone entering the building must sign in, have their temperature taken, and thoroughly disinfect their hands. This is necessary for us to check for signs and symptoms to keep you safe.

  • Anyone who is sick or has a temperature above 100 F will not be allowed in the facilities.

  • If a student residing in student housing shows symptoms of COVID-19, we will arrange to have them tested and require they self-isolate until the results come back.

  • If a student tests positive for COVID-19, parents will have 48 hours to arrange transportation. It is the responsibility of the parents and students to take their health seriously to prevent infecting others.

  • Regularly communicate and monitor developments with local authorities, students, and families regarding cases, exposures, and updates to policies and procedures.

  • We are ready to consult with the local health authorities in the event that we develop cases in the facility or an increase in cases in the local area.

MEAL PLANS

If you would like a meal plan, lunch and dinner packages will be available and catered to the studio.  Vegetarian options available are available Meals will be individually packaged and distributed to each participant by a member of the staff following strict health protocols to avoid contamination.  We would still like to have our Saturday night dinner out on the town at a local restaurant, but this is subject to change based on safety concerns.

Please contact Nicole Winter at nwinter@bocaballet.org with your intentions and questions about BBT’s Summer Intensive Program.
