Behind the magic…

Boca Ballet Theatre’s studio was transformed into a performance space, featuring iconic scenes from this year’s virtual presentation of The Nutcracker, set to stream on December 12th and 13th, 2020!

2020’s performance of The Nutcracker is a first in many ways for Boca Ballet Theatre, which celebrates a landmark 30th season this year! It all began by transforming the studio we know and love into a performance space. With the help of dedicated volunteers, the studio was outfitted with rigging for backdrops and stage-quality lighting so that we could feature the iconic scenes of The Nutcracker. Now, dancers and audience members alike can experience the magic that we are used to on the “real” stage!

You’ll notice that BBT’s dancers have a new addition to their costumes as well! Each cast member will be wearing a neutral-colored mask in the show, which keep our dancers safe in the studio while also being performance-ready. Some, like our doll, even feature cute additions that are in-character! Though dancers had to adjust to new ways to enter and exit stage, there’s no doubt that they were happy to be “onstage” again. After all, no holiday season would be complete without The Nutcracker!

We hope that you will enjoy the magic of this show at home with your family this holiday season! Be sure to share this performance with friends and loved ones who might enjoy experiencing The Nutcracker from at home! Links to our social media profiles below!
