This year, we are very excited to welcome American Ballet Theatre’s Remy Young and Joseph Markey as the sugar plum fairy and her cavalier!
Remy Young began her classical training at the age of three at the Charlotte School of Ballet under the direction of Gay Porter and Bridget Porter-Young. There, she achieved the highest awards in the Royal Academy of Dance and Cecchetti methods. In 2013, she received awards from Youth America Grand Prix and American Ballet Competition. Young attended summer programs at the School of American Ballet and American Ballet Theatre. She was accepted into the ABT Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School, where she trained until joining ABT Studio Company in 2015. Young joined the American Ballet Theatre’s main Company in 2016.
Joseph Markey, originally from Jacksonville, Florida, started his training at Debbie’s Dance Company under the direction of Debra Ford. In 2017, Markey moved to Orlando, Florida, and became a trainee with Orlando Ballet School. He joined American Ballet Theatre Studio Company the following year. Markey attended summer programs at Ballet West, Orlando Ballet, Next Generation Ballet, Art of Movement and Complexions Contemporary Ballet. He won a silver medal as a YoungArts finalist in 2017, a bronze medal at the USA International Ballet Competition Jackson in 2018 and first place at Youth America Grand Prix Tampa semi-finals in 2018. Markey became an apprentice with American Ballet Theatre in 2019.
We can’t wait to welcome these dancers as well as many other talented guest artists to Boca in December! Be sure to reserve your seats today!
