BBT Celebrates Dancers Noemi Alvarez-Luevano and Hannah Hutchins!

Because of the pandemic, Boca Ballet Theatre wasn’t able to host our typical spring staples last year, including one special tradition: an awards ceremony for our graduating seniors at the post-performance cast party. For this reason, we’re taking a moment now to honor two of BBT’s longtime dancers, Noemi Alvarez-Luevano and Hannah Hutchins, who graduated last year after over ten years of dancing at BBT! Co-Artistic Directors Dan Guin and Jane Tyree honored Noemi and Hannah with special senior awards—modeled after Degas’ famous statue—in recognition of their accomplishment.

Noemi Alvarez-Luevano started taking classes at BBT in 2008 and danced in numerous performances over the years. She danced almost every role in The Nutcracker, including the role of Clara. “One of my cherished memories was watching the guest artists from the wings,” Noemi says. “I always enjoyed and looked forward to it since it was so inspiring and beautiful to watch, especially as an aspiring dancer.” Since graduating last spring, Noemi has been taking classes online at Florida State University, where she is majoring in Biology. Since undergoing ankle surgery over the summer, Noemi has been concentrating on building her strength and getting back into dance classes!

Hannah Hutchins began her training at BBT in 2010 at the age of seven. Since then, she performed in The Nutcracker ten times! Her favorite roles include the Columbine doll in the Party Scene and Bo Peep from The Nutcracker’s second act in the Land of Sweets. In addition to attending dance classes, Hannah was a dedicated volunteer for BBT, assisting with classes in the Children’s Division and for BBT4PD, Boca Ballet Theatre’s special dance program for those living with Parkinson’s disease. Hannah now attends Palm Beach Atlantic University, where she is currently majoring in Psychology.

We hope you’ll join us in congratulating these incredible dancers for their exceptional accomplishments! We wish them all the best in the next exciting chapter of their lives!
