BBT’s First Step Program Dances into the Fall

Boca Ballet Theatre’s First Step program kicked off the fall last week with its first class back since summer break! This year, we are thrilled to continue our partnership with The Boys and Girls Club of Palm Beach County. This program would not be possible without the generous sponsorship of Vegso Family Foundation, so we extend a heartfelt thank you as we begin another year of this spectacular program!
Fifteen First Step students attend dance classes twice a week at Boca Ballet Theatre. These students are exposed to ballet and modern dance in the supportive environment created by BBT’s phenomenal faculty members, including First Step’s amazing director Dennis Lue. In addition to providing transportation for the youngsters, all of their dance wear and shoes are provided at no cost to the families thanks to the sponsorship of Vegso Family Foundation!
Students in First Step learn that dance is a way to communicate. They are exposed to dance from various cultures and historical periods, which promotes understanding and tolerance for people from all walks of life. First Step is a wonderful way to reach young people and guide them to be better citizens through discipline, increased self-esteem, and respect for authority figures—all while enjoying the undeniable beauty of dance!
