Faculty Spotlight: Who is Ms. Daniela?

Anyone who’s visited BBT’s studios is sure to have seen Ms. Daniela Nascimento hard at work teaching her ballet students. Ms. Daniela brings her passion for dance to the studio each and every class, pushing her students to new heights with enthusiasm and dedication. But who is Ms. Daniela, and how did she become such an important part of BBT’s faculty?

Ms. Daniela began her training in Brazil, where she danced in numerous competitions and appeared in full-length ballets like Don Quixote, Giselle, La Bayadère, and La Sylphide, amongst many others. She later received a bachelor’s degree in Education from the Faculdades Metropolitanas Unidas in Sao Paulo. In 1997, she received her Royal Academy of Dancing certificates from legendary ballerina Dame Margot Fonteyn, the president of the Royal Academy. Ms. Daniela has performed locally for Boca Ballet Theatre and in Brazil for Ilara Lopes and Nice Leite Nucleo de Danca. She has 15 years of experience teaching ballet, pointe and character and 16 years of experience as a professional dancer.

When asked what advice she’d give to young dancers, Ms. Daniela said, “Love what you do. You have to do it with your whole body, your spirit, your soul.” With all the hard work that dancers put into each and every class and rehearsal, Ms. Daniela also encourages dancers to appreciate gratification of the curtain call: “Love the sound of the applause. It’s an amazing feeling. That’s what you work for. That’s the value of going onstage.”

We hope you’ll say hello to Ms. Daniela next time you’re in the studio! We are so lucky to have her as a member of our faculty!
