Moonlight Concerto
With its evocative score and haunting lighting, “Moonlight Concerto” is a BBT crowd favorite and has been performed many times over the years. This ballet was choreographed by Jennifer Vanucchi-Dolan, who has performed professionally and now teaches dance at Calvary Christian Academy. Jennifer describes the ballet as "a very classical piece, but we're really taking classical ballet and giving it a modern feel. It's a mood piece without a story."
Piano Man
“Piano Man” is inspired by the black and white “Merrie Melodies” cartoons of the 1930s. Set to the music of Liberace, this piece brings to life animated images of a piano keyboard’s octave with infectiously playful movement and music.
The Dying Swan
“The Dying Swan” is a solo variation originally choreographed by Mikhail Fokine to Camille Saint-Saëns's “Le Cygne” (“The Swan”). In a 1931 interview with Dance Magazine, Fokine said his piece “was a combination of masterful technique with expressiveness. It was like a proof that the dance could and should satisfy not only the eye, but through the medium of the eye should penetrate the soul.” BBT will feature a professional guest artist alongside live musical accompaniment with Dariel of the acclaimed cello duo Emil & Dariel. in this heart-wrenching piece. You don’t want to miss it!
Le Corsaire Pas de Deux
The pas de deux from Le Corsaire is one of the most famous and often performed in classical ballet. The full-length ballet is inspired by Lord Byron’s epic poem, The Corsair. It follows the story of a pirate named Conrad, who is found shipwrecked at the ballet’s opening by Medora, whom he soon falls in love with. Their pas de deux reveals their passion and devotion to each other.
Pas de Quatre
Pas de Quatre was originally choreographed by Jules Perrot, who brought together on one stage the four greatest ballerinas of the time: Lucile Grahn, Carlotta Grisi, Fanny Cerrito, and Marie Taglioni. With its light technique and the flowing Romantic tutus that the dancers wear, this iconic piece represents the essence of the Romantic style. Each ballerina dances an individual variation, which are designed to display the best features of each. Boca Ballet Theatre’s staging of this beautiful work will include live musical accompaniment!
In Deep
“In Deep” is set to the music of the band Deep Forest, who produces music inspired by the forest as well as the water. While “In Deep” has no narrative storyline, it captures the essence of the ocean as dancers imitate the creatures that reside on the ocean floor, bringing them to life with fluid movement.
