Faculty Spotlight: Who is Ms. Thais?

Adult ballet students at Boca Ballet Theatre love taking classes with Thais Harris, whose caring and methodical approach to teaching leaves dancers feeling supported, encouraged, and accomplished. But who is Ms. Thais, and how did she become a member of the BBT family?

Thais received her early dance training in Boca Raton from instructors Betty D’Avray and Anne Polajenko. She continued her ballet training with Ruth Petrinovic at the School of Ballet Florida, where she performed in Cinderella, The Sleeping Beauty, The Tempest, and The Nutcracker. Thais later resided in Spain where she had the opportunity to work and train with the Ballet Comunidad de Madrid.

Thais discovered her love for teaching at a young age and has spent the past 20 years teaching ballet, 10 of which she’s spent instructing students at Boca Ballet Theatre. “I feel that being able to teach ballet is a gift to share with others,” Thais says. “I hope to share with my students the benefits that ballet has to offer both physically and mentally. Whether or not you become a professional, dance teaches you discipline and hard work, which are valuable skills in life.”

We hope that next time you’re in BBT’s studios you’ll say hello to Ms. Thais! We are so thankful to have her as a member of our faculty!
