BBT mourns beloved sustainer Edith Stein

It’s with heavy hearts that we mourn the loss of beloved Boca Ballet Theatre sustainer Edith Stein, who passed away in late January. Since moving to Boca Raton with her late husband Martin in 1990, Edith’s philanthropy has allowed for local arts and cultural organizations like BBT to endure and thrive. Our artistic community would not be same without Edith’s generosity, and Boca Ballet Theatre is forever grateful for her unparalleled support, which will live on in perpetuity thanks to an incredible pledge made in 2023, securing Edith’s place in the Pavlova Legacy Society, a special group of sustainers who have made legacy gifts to support us in perpetuity.

Those who knew Edith best recognized her deep love of the beauty of ballet. However, it’s the joy that The Nutcracker brings each year—not only to the young dancers on stage but also to the children in the audience—that attracted her to supporting our production of this holiday classic. Though Edith is no longer with us, her legacy will live on in the form of a generous million dollar endowment fund that ensures that our Nutcracker endures. Boca Ballet Theatre’s production of the Edith & Martin Stein Family Foundation’s The Nutcracker will continue to bring the joy and magic of dance to our community for many years to come!

We hope you’ll join us in celebrating the life and legacy of Edith Stein. She will be missed!
